Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus is the 31st Perfect Shaikh of the Sarwari Qadri Order. The Sarwari Qadri Order started from Hazrat Mohammad Sall’Alahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam. It passed on to Hazrat Ali Karum Allah Wajhul Kareem, from whom it was transferred to the Ummat of Nabi Kareem Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam. This continued from Khawaja Hussan Basri Razi Allah Anhu to Ghaus-ul-Azam Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Razi Allah Anhu and then to Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh.
The Sarwari Qadri chain reaches Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus from Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh in the following order:
The holy birth of Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus took place on Wednesday, 19th August 1959 (14 Safar, 1379 H) at 4:30 am in Tehsil Bakhshan Khan, Bahawalnagar District, Punjab, Lahore Pakistan. The sacred essence of the child and his proximity with Allah showed symbols before birth to his mother. His mother did not feel any problem while bearing this sacred baby, something quite contrary to her other pregnancies. The time period of expectation went quite smooth and peaceful for her which is very rare for any mother.
Since eternity, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus had been chosen by Allah for the treasure of Faqr, so the Divine Light of Truth prominently shone upon his countenance. Whoever saw this sacred child, could not take away his gaze from that luminous face. Once a faqeer saw his celestial forehead and told his mother, “Allah has chosen him and written a special destiny on his forehead. He will spend his whole life under the supervision of Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Razi Allah Anhu who will prepare him and train him spiritually for a very special purpose”. On another occasion, he said, “Your son is a Leader. Wherever he would go, he will lead”. Hence, for enabling him to hold the treasure of Faqr and to execute the hardest duty of guiding the seekers of Allah on the divine path, he was made to go through severe hardships and immense difficulties from the early stages of his life.
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus is the eldest son of his parents. He was 4 years old when his religious and worldly education began. His father was not sound and stable financially. Despite being so keen of gaining knowledge and studying, he madzillah-ul-aqdus had to leave his studies every now and then to help his father in earning money. He spent early innocent years of his life doing various jobs to earn money, but whenever his financial conditions got a little stable, he restarted his studies. His intelligence can be judged by the fact that he wrote moral essays and articles in the children’s section of Roznama Mashriq, Masawat, Imroz, etc. when he was only in class 5th.
Since childhood, he was anxious about knowing the reality of Islam and spent most of his free time in pondering over the signs of Allah and the message of the Holy Prophet Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam, as well as reading religious books. Continuing all these activities side by side, he madzillah-ul-aqdus passed his Matriculation Exams from Multan Board in 1978 and in 1983, he passed his BA with First Division from Baha-ud-Din Zikriya University, Multan.
In 1984, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus began his career with a government job, due to which he had to shift to Lahore. Here, he also got married and lived a happy and well-settled life. After some time, his life took a sudden turn, whereby his financial conditions became better and better. At this phase of life, he was granted with everything he desired. Allah blessed him in such a way that whatever business he started to support his family, it flourished quickly. Allah graced him with such wealth so that he could not only experience its fake charm but also understand its reality. Soon, he overcame the attraction of wealth and an intense desire arose in his heart to get closer and closer to Allah. Despite all the luxuries of life, his heart was not content, so he used to meditate and pray much to find satisfaction.
From 3rd May 1998 till 12th October 2002, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus wrote columns for the Haft Roza Family Magazine with the title of “Ism-e-Azam ki Barkat” (Blessings of the Greatest Name of Allah). In this column, he explained the marvels of one Attributive Name of Allah every week, and also elaborated the benefits of its Zikr (invocation). He also told the number of times one should recite these names to solve a particular problem. This mystic knowledge was bestowed upon him from the court of Ghaus-ul-Azam Razi Allah Anhu spiritually before taking outward oath of allegiance. Since, he madzillah-ul-aqdus was a seeker of Allah and Faqr only, and never wanted worldly respect or fame, so when, he felt that this column writing was becoming an obstacle in his path of Faqr as inclination of masses was increasing towards him, he left it. Collection of his columns “Ism-e-Azam ki Barkat” will be soon published by Sultan-ul-Faqr publications.
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah was only 37 years of age, when he left worldly matters of life and absorbed himself completely in his relation with Allah. Gradually, his soul became more and more restless and impatient to meet its Beloved, that created an upheaval in his inward self. One day, he came across a strange man dressed in a peculiar manner who said, “The period of Allah’s bounties has begun for you. Remain steadfast on your inner state.” On hearing about his hidden esoteric condition from an unknown person, he got quite shocked and inquired him who he was. The man replied, “I am the one, who helps people and shows them ‘The Way’. I have come just to see you” and then he moved ahead. After some time, he madzillah-ul-aqdus searched for him but he had disappeared. To find that man he gave people the man’s description, but no one had seen any man around with such appearance.
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr restricted his involvement in worldly matters and absorbed himself in intense worship of Allah. This accelerated his spiritual journey and he got connected esoterically to Ghaus-ul-Azam Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani Razi Allah Anhu who guided him and enriched him with the spiritual bounties. Ghaus-ul-Azam gave him the divine knowledge about all the attributive Names of Allah, he madzillah-ul-aqdus recited each Name of Allah, lacs of times. In December 1997, Hazrat Ghaus-ul-Azam blessed him with the Zikr (invocation) of Ism-e-Allah and then gave him Ilm-e-Dawat (knowledge of communication with sacred souls of saints). When Hazrat Ghaus-ul-Azam Razi Allah Anhu completed his spiritual education, he ordered him to find a Murshid Kamil (The Perfect Spiritual Mentor). However, in this age of fraud and deception, it is a challenge to find the Murshid Kamil, but he madzillah-ul-aqdus began the search.
In search of finding Murshid Kamil, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr visited different places within and outside Lahore, and met a lot of Peers (mentors) but his heart was not inclined to any single one of them. One night, in the month of February 1998, he saw a dream in which a very attractive person with an enlightened countenance said to him, “Come, my son. I am waiting for you.” On waking up, he madzillah-ul-aqdus was very surprised, and from that very moment, he started searching for that awe-inspiring face. He spent a month in a disturbed and restless state, dividing his time between the search and prayers. In March 1998, he saw the same breath-taking face in his dream who said again, “You have suffered a lot of hardships. Come to me now, my son.” After seeing that Divine face again, his soul became desperate to meet the person who owned that illuminated face.
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr’s search met its destination when on the 12th of April 1998, his friend, Naveed Shaukat Sarwari Qadri took him to his own murshid, who lived in Jhung near the sacred shrine of Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh. When he madzillah-ul-aqdus entered the room, to his relief and pleasure, he found the face of his dreams. He felt that he was the richest man in the universe. He knew by the verification of his heart that he had found the Murshid Kamil, and only he heard him saying, “Oh! You have come my son.” This esteemed entity was none other than Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh.
The same day, after Maghrib prayers, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr took oath of allegiance on his sacred hand. From the very first day, he madzillah-ul-aqdus was on the highest pedestal of Ishq and his spiritual status kept elevating every day since then. From that day onwards, he madzillah-ul-aqdus spent each moment of his life rendering all his physical and mental abilities, as well as his wealth in serving his Murshid and supporting him in his mission of spreading Faqr. He annihilated himself in his Murshid to the extent that he became his reflection.
Success in Faqr is only possible through Ishq (intense Divine Love). In fact, Faqr is Ishq. Those, whom Allah has created exclusively for loving His Existence, find peace and salvation in nothing else apart from Ishq. Only in the pain and restlessness of Ishq, they find relief and pleasure. Once, the True Lovers turn towards Allah, in no way can the world or paradise attract them. The Vision of Beloved is their prayer and Ishq of Beloved is their worship.
Meaning: In the gathering of the Lovers, every ritual is a form of worship. Looking at the countenance of the Beloved, sitting in front of him, is like recitation of verses.
Hazrat Rabia Basri Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayha says:
Meaning: Bowing in front of the Beloved is the Lovers’ prayer and the painful cries of their hearts are their recitation of the Holy Quran.
Maulana Room Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
Meaning: Ishq is that spark, when turns into fire, burns everything except the Beloved (Murshid).
Meaning: The divine beauty of the Beloved (Murshid) is the teacher of the Lovers. His face is the book and the lesson itself.
Meaning: Burn all the books and turn your heart towards your Beloved.
The Murshid of Maulana Room Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh, Shah Shams Tabrez Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
Meaning: Ishq is the real Meraj (ascension), and since eternity, this is the only door towards the SULTAN. If you want to understand the Reality of Meraj (ascension), then contemplate the countenance of Murshid.
Maulana Jami Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
Meaning: Consider yourself fortunate, if you find Ishq of your Murshid, because this is the medium for reaching Ishq-e-Haqeeqi.
According to Baba Bulleh Shah Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh, Ishq-e-Majazi (love for murshid) is the way to Ishq-e-Haqeeqi since the former leads to the latter.
Meaning: The seeker would never have reached Allah, had he not found love of his Murshid. Just like cloth cannot be stitched without needle and thread, likewise Ishq-e-Haqeeqi is impossible without Ishq-e-Majazi.
Mian Mohammad Bukhsh Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
Meaning: Those, who are unable to get Ishq-e-Haqeeqi in this world, their life is useless and is a total waste. Without Ishq-e-Haqeeqi there is no difference between a man and a dog.
Hazrat Mujadid Alif-Sani Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
Meaning: Revolve around the Lovers. Even, if you are unable to taste the wine of Divine Love, you might at least get to smell it. If not that, then seeing these lovers is also enough.
Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says in Noor-ul-Huda Kalan:
Meaning: Lovers can be simply described by saying that their beginning and their peak is Divine Light.
In Muhkam-ul-Fuqara, he Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
Meaning: O Bahoo! Ishq is the Highest Station. Do the Zikr and Tasawur of Ism-e-Allah Zaat to reach it. It would make you go through every station and take you to your destination in La-Makan (station beyond time and space).
Meaning: Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh expounds in this couplet that everyone wants to save his faith, but no one wants to have the wealth of Ishq (Divine Love). It can only be the desire of a true seeker of Allah. The seekers of the world and Heaven are pseudo seekers, who only wish the safety of their faith and are afraid of seeking the love of Allah because this is not an easy way. In my heart, the respect and honor for Faqr and Ishq-e-Elahi (Divine Love) is arising. Infact, the destination of Divine closeness to which love has access, faith does not have even a peck of information about it. In the last line, he prays and requests his Murshid (mentor), oh my Perfect Mentor! Please save my Ishq and grant me the perseverance because my Ishq is more endear to me than my faith.
Ishq is that powerful emotion which over powers everything that exists in the outer and inner self of a seeker. It burns everything that surrounds it, into ashes except the Beauty of the Divine Beloved. Out of love for the Beloved, the lover sacrifices everything including his own life.
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus is the best living example of Ishq-e-Haqeeqi. He stepped into the arena of love and his hard efforts and true intentions made him succeed in every trial of Ishq by the grace of Allah. With his intense passion of Ishq, he won all the challenges and crossed all the outward and inward obstacles in the way of Ishq. Infact, Ishq inculcates the ability of patience, strength and uprightness in the seeker as he meets the challenges in the way of Faqr. Because of the Ishq, the lover is ready to fulfill all the wishes of his Beloved at the cost of his own comforts. For his happiness, he sacrifices his own wishes, comfort, wealth, happiness, pleasures and every possession. He Madzillah-ul-Aqdus, got so absorbed in the Ishq for his Murshid that he forgot his own existence. He left all acquaintances, friendships, relatives and other worldly businesses; now his only concern was about the comfort and happiness of his Murshid. He was ready to sacrifice his entire wealth for merely one glance or smile of love from his Beloved Murshid.
The Holy Murshid knew about the state of his intense Ishq, since a Murshid is always well-aware of every state of the seeker’s heart, but it is necessary to test the true lover to prove his love upon other people and for the Day of Judgment. Usually the Murshid makes the true disciple go through different challenges, so he can educate and guide him spiritually and also allow him to prove his sincerity. The sincerity of the Ishq of Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr made him meet every challenge and succeed in every trial with strength. The blessings of Murshid and the favour of Allah are received by the seeker in accordance to his Ishq and sincerity, and he madzillah-ul-aqdus had got both of them in abundance. Hence, he passed every test successfully and reached the highest pedestal of Ishq.
Regarding the Ishq for Murshid and annihilation in Murshid, Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus himself says:
This was the most incredible and valuable moment of my life. His eyes fell upon me and my outlook towards the life was changed. Gradually, I got free from the clutches of the world and became aware of its reality. Since 12 April 1998 till 26 December 2003, I served my murshid, after which, he left this world, transferring to me the Trust of Ism-e-Allah Zaat. The sacred company and the opportunity to serve Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh are the real achievements of my life. During his lifetime, when I could not meet him for ten or fifteen days, I felt as if the light of faith had lessened in my heart and the attraction of the world was pulling me towards itself. But when, I reached his holy court and he put a glance upon me, the sea of love for Allah and His Messenger Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam raged in myself. I felt disgusted of this world and its desires. Then, my Ishq for murshid kept increasing and I became indifferent to everything except Allah.
Meaning: One moment in the company of Auliya is better than thousand years of worship.
As Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
Meaning: The lover has already lost his heart in Ishq. He has also annihilated himself in his Beloved to the extent that there is no retreat. He is now counted amongst the Lovers. Ever since, he has reached the peak of Ishq, he has forgotten all about wisdom and intellect. O Bahoo! I am ready to sacrifice myself for the seeker whose Ishq has reached its peak and who has burnt himself in Ishq and has become Ishq.
When my Ishq reached its heights I recognized the Reality of my Murshid. Then I did not remain myself anymore. I lost myself in the passion of Ishq and even my own existence burnt in the fire of Ishq. In the words of Baba Bulleh Shah:
Meaning: I have no existence of my own, my essence has become my Murshid’s. (An extract from Mujtaba Akhar Zamani, book by Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus, chp-6 page 438)
This is how, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus annihilated in the essence of his Murshid and became his reflection. His Murshid tested him several times. About the spiritual and inward trials, only the seeker and Allah know, but outwardly he became the centre of attention of his Murshid. Whatever duty was assigned to him by his Murshid, he obediently performed it. Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh once said about him that: “our brother Najib-ur-Rehman has become the reflection of the saying i.e. I have no will of my own, I am pleased at whatever is my beloved’s will.” He Madzillah-ul-Aqdus never abstained from any physical or financial sacrifice and placed all his wealth at the feet of his Murshid. He stayed awake for nights at the service of his Murshid and gave his full to fulfill all the duties assigned to him.
The first change in Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr after the oath, was that although, he went there clean shaven but after seeing his Murshid, he kept a beard and refrained from wearing pants, trousers and coat in his conformation. Since first day, he became the Beloved of his Murshid. He Madzillah-ul-Aqdus narrates that on the day of oath, at the court of his Murshid, while getting up, the corner of his shirt got stuck in his foot due to which he was about to fall. At once, Murshid lovingly said, “Bismillah! Bismillah!”. This happened before, he had taken the oath and after the oath, his Murshid blessed him with infinite love.
About the bearer of the Divine Secret and the Heir of the Trust of Allah, Hazrat Allama Iqbal Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
The explanation of this verse is that “the bearer of Divine Secret and the Heir of the Trust of Allah is outwardly trained the way other disciples are, but in the esoteric self, he is taught in an entirely different manner. If you want to recognize him, then observe that, after the arrival of which particular disciple, things get started that never happened before. As, he is creative in natrue, he is the pioneer of many new things.”
If we observe, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr among all the disciples of Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh, only he fits as the Heir of the Trust of Allah. The following incidents show that he madzillah-ul-aqdus opened up new aspects in the circle of his Murshid’s disciples.
In September 1998, he madzillah-ul-aqdus took these clothes to Dadowal (Jehlum), where Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh was staying at the house of Sajid Hussain. When the collection of clothes prepared by Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr was presented before the holy Murshid, his face shone with happiness and the dress which was criticized the most by the fellow disciples was the one which he liked the most. He ordered his Khalifah to arrange for a bath, as he wanted to wear that suit right away. Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh is stationed at such grand and supreme spiritual status that he never needed material adornment. He didn’t at all need those clothes, rather he was testing that which one of his disciples understood the meaning hidden in his words and also he wanted to check that which disciple would understand the grandeur of his Murshid and would love to dress him accordingly. Only Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr came up to the expectations of the Murshid. From that day onwards, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr took upon the duty of making clothes for his Murshid for all seasons and all the events such as Eid and Urs of Mashaikhs. He also bought high quality khussas for him along with the clothes. He did this duty throughout the life of his murshid with such devotion that he forgot to get his own dresses prepared.
After that, he made it a routine, that whenever, he came to Lahore, he spent one day at the house of Mohammad Ilyas in Daroghawala and the remaining days in his special room in the house of Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr. Once, he said, “I feel comfortable either at the holy shrine or in this room of the house of Najib-ur-Rehman”. Whenever, Murshid Pak was staying in the room, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr used to run up and down the stairs several times a day to serve him and provide him with everything he needed, but when he was not staying there, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr did not go upstairs for days.
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr started his mission of spreading the bounty of Faqr from this very room and used to meet his disciples and seekers in this room till the 23rd of October 2009. On the 14th of August 2005, he started taking oath of allegiance, and in August 2006, he started Mahnama Sultan-ul-Faqr Lahore, both from this sacred room.
At that point, an old companion of Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh, Chacha Noor Asif suggested that the same prayer should be asked for them both. Murshid Pak thought for a moment and then returned the money of Mohammad Ilyas and kept that of Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr, saying “I have thought something special for him instead of giving him worldly riches, but Allah will fulfill all his necessary requirements and no need will be left unfulfilled.”
After that, Murshid Pak went to Auchali and called up Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr from there, to ask if he could arrange for another AC, as it became extremely suffocating, after it rained there. Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr immediately arranged one and got it fitted there. This was also a Sunnat (tradition) of his Murshid Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali. Once, in the extreme summer, Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali’s Murshid Sultan-ul-Auliya Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Abdul Aziz was travelling in Thal. Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh found him drenched in sweat. He came to Lahore, sold his car and bought a generator and a pedestal fan for his Murshid. Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh used to say, “When the air of the fan touched the face of my Murshid, the comfort was felt by my heart”.
After some days, the disciples suggested to Murshid Pak that brother Naveed Shaukat has Italy made 12 bore Repeater Gun, and this gun should be exchanged with the gun given by brother Najib-ur-Rehman. However, Murshid Pak said that the matter should be discussed with Najib-ur-Rehman first and then the decision should be taken. When Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr went to Kundiyan (Mianwali) to meet his Murshid, Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh asked him, “If you allow, can I exchange your gun with the gun Naveed Shaukat has”. Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr simply spoke in these words, “Hazoor! that gun isn’t mine. It belongs to you. Give it, to whomever you want.” Murshid Pak was touched by his humble and loving words and said, “Brother Najib has become the reflection of the saying i.e. I have no will of my own, I am pleased at whatever is the will of my Beloved”.
In April 2002, the Maktaba-ul-Arifeen was established with grandeur. It published “Guldasta-e-Taalemat-e-Sultan Bahoo”, “Abiyat-e-Bahoo”, “Swaneh Hayat Sultan Bahoo”, “Risala Roohi Sharif”, “Haqeeqat-e-Ism-e-Allah Zaat”, “Guldasta Abiyat-o-Munajat Peer Mohammad Bahadur Ali Shah” which gained much popularity. Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus supervised “Maktaba-ul-Arifeen” during the life time of his Murshid. Apart from this, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr also devoted his house (in Education Town) and 7 marla land, for the office or Maktaba-ul-Arifeen. Since October 2009, the office of Mahnama Sultan-ul-Faqr has been established there.
“Why are you worried? Peer Sahab has fulfilled your request. The 10 year long hidden illness has been diagnosed. Tomorrow, after a minor operation, this problem will be over. Brother Najib! since the illness has become apparent, its treatment is necessary or else people would have thought it, as our miracle, and that we do not approve”. This yet again was a Sunnat of Murshid, as he had also gone to the shrine of Peer Bahadur Ali Shah Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh for the health of his Murshid.
The above mentioned duties are only a few among countless responsibilities that Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr performed for his Murshid, which include financial arrangements for celebrating Milad-e-Mustafa Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam or other programs, preparing sacred sheet for the shrine of Sultan Abdul Aziz Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh every year and many other personal duties of Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th, which are not being mentioned just to be precise.
In addition to outward trials there are continuous trials happening in the esoteric self also which are a secret that only the disciples and the Murshid know. Others are never aware of the inner state of a disciple and the challenges going on in the inward. More so, the challenges in the esoteric self are far more tough than those in the outward self. These can never be expressed in words but their intensity and impact can be imagined to some extent by these words of Ghalib:
Meaning: “Ghalib! The prayer of Ishq is never accepted unless you perform ablution with your blood.”
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr never asked anything in return of these responsibilities and sacrifices, except the will of his Murshid. Because of this intense love, sincerity of heart and diligence, Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh chose him for entrusting the Trust of Faqr. As Allah says:
“He chooses whom so ever He wishes.”
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr became the dearest disciple and the Beloved of Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh. If Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr could not go to meet his Murshid, his Murshid himself travelled all the way to Lahore just to meet him. For all the important responsibilities, he was considered the perfect choice. As, he passed from the above mentioned challenges and found the belovedness of the Murshid, in the same pattern, he crossed all the inward waystations and reached the most supreme spiritual levels. But, no one was aware of his exalted spiritual status except his Murshid. So, Sultan-ul-Faqr Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali blessed him with special attention and treated him most lovingly whenever, he went to meet him.
As Murshid’s attention was focused on Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr and he became the apple of his eye, jealousy and envy against him increased and jealous people tried to create distances between him and his Murshid. Sometimes, they tried to find faults in the duties of Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr and pressurized Murshid Pak to take them back and at other times, they coined false stories against him and spread them. But the true Lover and Beloved can never be separated by such petty tricks. Neither, Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr stepped back from his duties nor did Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh lessened his love and favours towards him. In the words of Iqbal:
Meaning: “O Eagle! Do not get scared of the opposing storm. It runs to make you fly higher”.
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr’s uprightness led him to such great heights of Faqr and Tauheed (Divine Oneness) which are unimaginable and cannot be comprehended in words.
Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus is stationed at the ultimate height of Divine Love, where there is no room for doubts or controversies and his “Countenance” is the absolute proof of it. Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh says:
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus himself says:
In the beginning of year 2003, dreams of his death or funeral prayer would haunt me. As a result, I got extremely disturbed and tensed. In March or may be April, he came to Lahore and went straight to Daroghawala. I had made sketches of various styles of Ism-e-Allah Zaat to get approved by him for the final printing. I presented these in front of him, he chose one of them and asked Saad Ameer Khan Niazi for his suggestion. He also felt that the selected sketch seemed perfect for printing. Murshid Pak now had his eyes on me but was talking to Mr. Niazi:
“Now I wish that a van should be full of chests containing Ism-e-Allah Zaat made of gold which I may distribute to people all over Pakistan and invite them towards Faqr. Who knows, how long shall I live.” Then, he emphasized his next sentence, “If Allah wills, I have a long life ahead.”
He put such a divine glance at me that all worries escaped my heart, but only then I could not read that beautiful face. It is the marvel of the Sarwari Qadri Murshid that he hides his true feelings and expressions from his seeker whenever he wishes. (Mujtaba Akhir Zamani pg 374)
On 26th December 2003, this outward companionship of the lover and Beloved ended by the will of Allah, but the inward oneness became eternal. Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr had become true and exact reflection of his Murshid Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh by annihilating in his Divine Self. Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali had checked and approved Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr, after all the trials that only he was capable of holding the Trust of Allah. So Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th transferred Amanat-e-Elahiya (The Trust of Allah) inwardly and secretly to Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr and left this material world.
Just as, every seeker of Allah is in search of the Perfect Spiritual Mentor so he can attain the Gnosis of Allah, likewise every Perfect Spiritual Mentor is also in search of a true and trust worthy seeker who can be trusted upon to bear the Divine Secrets, so he can transfer the Trust of Faqr to him and get retirement from his duty. Sultan-ul-Arifeen Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh spent his whole life in trying to find that special seeker. In his book Noor-ul-Huda, he says:

Meaning: “No true seeker of Allah came to me. Only the seekers of this world and paradise came to me.”
One pre-decided rule of the transference of the Trust of Allah has been described by Maulana Rumi Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh in his Masnavi that:
The perfect Mentors of Sarwari Qadri order have always refrained from popularity. Except the seekers of Allah, no one knows them, and neither, their shrines are well known like the shrines of saints of other orders. They can be described by the following Hadith:
Meaning: “There are my saints, who remain hidden beneath my robe and no one knows them apart from me.”
Hazrat Abdullah bin Umar Razi Allah Anhu relates that Hazoor Alayhi Asalat-o-Wasalam said:
Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo says:
Meaning: Faqr means hiding your glitter, although, you are the gold yourself but show yourself, as merely a metallic coin.
Such a seeker gets the Trust of Allah, who isn’t very popular and prefers to stay anonymous because popularity and fame are the biggest obstacles in the way of Faqr. Sultan-ul-Faqr 5th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh was unable to find such a seeker in his lifetime. So he passed away without transferring the Trust of Allah. However, 139 years later, from the Assembly of the Authority of Faqr, Hazoor Alayhi Asalat-o-Wasalam (on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal 1241/ 24th October 1825), Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah Madni Jilani Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh was sent to whom Sultan-ul-Faqr 5th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh transferred the Trust of Faqr, and it was decided that it would then be passed on to Hazrat Abdul Ghafoor Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh, then from him to Peer Bahadur Ali Shah Kazmi Al Mash’hadi Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh, then to Sultan-ul-Auliya Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Abdul Aziz Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh and then to Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh, and then the decision of the next heir would be brought back to the holy court of Hazoor Alayhi Asalat-o-Wasalam to seek his permission. From there, it would be transferred in the same manner, as was transferred from Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo to Syed Mohammad Abdullah Shah Madni Jilani Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayhim.
Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh was on the footsteps of Sultan-ul-Faqr Fifth Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh. Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh also spent 20 years (from April 1981 till March 2001) in search of that true and capable seeker, to whom he could transfer the Trust of Faqr.
On 13th April 1981, Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh graced the Exalted Throne of Divine guidance and persuasion. To spread Faqr, he laid the foundation of Islahi Jamat on the 27th February 1989. He gave special attention to all his disciples to find that capable seeker. Till 1994, he worked very hard to sanctify the hearts and souls of his disciples with the Light of Allah through the teachings of Faqr.
After 14 years of extreme effort, he went to Umra with his disciples, the seekers of Allah and his family on the 20th Ramadan 1415 (20th February 1995) to present the best seekers at the Court of the Authority and the Leader of Faqr, Hazoor Alayhi Asalat-o-Wasalam. After performing Umra, he went from Makkah to Madina and presented them in the court of the Holy Prophet Mohammad Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam but all of them had worldly desires in their hearts instead of love for Allah so, no one was accepted. This, greatly disappointed Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh and he got ill with diabetes and blood pressure.
The next year, on the 20th of Ramadan 1416 (10th February till 21st March 1996), he again went with selected disciples and the seekers for Umra. Then, they went to Madina at the Court of the Holy Prophet Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam but again, no one met the requirements. Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh worked hard for another year on his disciples and went to Umra the 3rd time on the 20th Ramadan 1417 (30th January till 20th February 1999), with some selected disciples. After Umra, they went to Madina at the Court of Hazoor Alayhi Asalat-o-Wasalam, who said that no one amongst them deserved the high station of Faqr. Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh then dropped the idea of performing Umra before ensuring that he has found the true and capable seeker.
Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Najib-ur-Rehman Madzillah-ul-Aqdus narrates the transference of Trust of Faqr to him in these words:
Meaning: “No one knows when he will die. We carry the luggage of the years to come but do not know what the next moment has in store for us.”
On 7th March, in Makkah, he ordered my humble self and Naveed Shaukat to buy cloth of coffin for him, cleanse it with Zam Zam water and rub it, against the wall of Khana Kaaba, and added that it can be required any time. These words shocked me beyond belief and I got really taken aback. I was unable to think smoothly and got extremely worried. This one of his order was too difficult for me to obey, as in such a situation, I could not even think, let alone act and get his coffin made. Hence, Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh ordered Mr. Haji Mohammad Nawaz to buy the coffin immediately.
This condition and words of my Murshid shook me completely. At, all the holy places of Makkah, such as, while offering Nafls at Hateem, embracing Khana Kaaba, near Multazim, during Sa’ee of Saffa and Marwa and at Mina, Arafat and Muzdalfah my only prayer was:
I kept repeating this prayer constantly and presented my life to Allah to grant it, to my Beloved Murshid. As, in the words of Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Bahoo:
Meaning: “We have earned such Ishq that we have presented our life to Allah.”
On 9th March 2001, after performing Hajj, the schedule of going to Madina was decided to be on 17th March but Murshid Pak was very impatient to reach Madina, as soon as possible. It seemed, as if, he wanted to present some special matter at the Court of Holy Prophet Mohammad Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam. Even, he asked Haji Mohammad Nawaz and Ahmed Bukhsh to get an early schedule to Madina, but the plan remained unchanged. His condition also remained unchanged. On 18th March we went to Madina.
At the Court of Prophet Mohammad Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam, I said the same prayer. The Only difference was that, in Madina I presented my life before Allah and in Madina before the Holy Prophet, to grant it to my Murshid. Finally, the day came for which Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh had waited for 20 years, as the person, he selected and presented in the court of Holy Prophet Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam for the Trust of Faqr was approved.
It was the greatest blessing for us, to be present at the Sacred Court of Prophet Mohammad Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam with Murshid Kareem Sultan-ul-Faqr 6th Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh. I can never forget that day when after Maghrib prayer, all the fellow disciples got busy with their own jobs and only Naveed Shaukat and I were left with Murshid Pak. He decided to go to the Roza of Holy Mohammad Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam with us. At that time, the door of Masjid-e-Nabvi, Baab-e-Islam was so crowded that it was very difficult to pass the crowd. Naveed Shaukat and I stood on either side of Murshid Pak, so that, he would not face much difficulty in going across the crowd.
This presence at the Roza Pak of Prophet Mohammad Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam is the most important incident of my life. It felt like we were being showered with the rain of Noor (Light of Allah). Our eyes were full of tears but we kept moving forward towards the Roza. When, we got closer to the grills of the Roza, the wheel chair of the man in front of us had its wheel stuck in the carpet and the queue stopped. Murshid Pak turned his face towards the Roza of Rasool Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam. His face shone brighter than the moon, I looked at the Roza and then at his face, turn by turn-both were miraculous sights. I had never seen such a beautiful sight before and that moment was of an incomprehensible engrossment.
All of a sudden, the guard of the Roza pointed towards my Murshid and said in Arabic, “The queue has stopped due to this Shaikh”. Subhan Allah! even the guards recognized him as Shaikh (Perfect Spiritual Mentor). When, they advanced towards him, everyone around paused and looked at my Murshid Kareem’s beautiful divine face in a state of trance and it felt like, time had stopped. The guard lifted his hand to hold Murshid Pak’s arm but I held his hand and pointed towards the wheel chair and showed him that the queue has stopped due to it. So, he adjusted the wheel chair and the queue started moving again. Then, we reached the Roza and prayed there, for some time. Our eyes remained full of tears all the time.
As, we stepped out of the Roza, after Hazri, brother Naveed Shaukat went to pick the shoes of Murshid Kareem and I requested to his grace: “Hazoor! Islam has been divided into many sects and the educated ones have no knowledge of the true Islam. The infidels have united against Islam. Please do a favour that makes the real soul of Islam prosper in the world and the satanic hold ends.”
He looked into my eyes and said “we have found the companion of our heart and soul”. He meant that his aim had been achieved. At this point, he bestowed his divine favour and beneficence upon me in the form of Trust of Allah, thus, repleted my innerself. He also gave me the strength to keep this, a secret. After that day, his face shone with happiness and he regained health. It felt like all his illness had ended. He said, “The purpose, for which we came at the court of the Holy Prophet Sall’Allahu Alayhi Wa’alihi Wasallam has been fulfilled. As a result, wishes of all other disciples who accompany us will be granted”.
This, I witnessed myself that those who went to pray for success in business, their business was flourished. Whatever, each wanted, he got it.
After coming back to Pakistan, he disconnected himself from everything, it seemed as if, his mission had been completed. Following the Sunnat of his Murshid, he spent two years training his companion of heart and Heir of the Trust of Allah i.e. my humble self, to hold the Exalted Throne of granting divine guidance. Just like Peer Bahadur Ali Shah Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh educated Sultan-ul-Auliya Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Abdul Aziz Rehmat-ul-Allah Alayh and then he trained Sultan-ul-Faqr Hazrat Sakhi Sultan Mohammad Asghar Ali for two years. From here starts the third period of the life of Khadim Sultan-ul-Faqr where he has been elevated to the level of Sarwari Qadri Murshid from a seeker and disciple. He has been designated to adorn the exalted throne of Divine Guidance and Persuasion. To guide the seekers of Allah on the Divine path, is the last and most important duty assigned to him by his Murshid, which, he is executing with the same sincerity and hard work, as he had done all his previous duties.
